UAE Weather Alert: Strong Dust Storms to Reduce Visibility, Temperatures to Drop
UAE: Authorities have issued a weather and health warning as strong dust storms are impacting various parts of the UAE. The Emirates Health Services (EHS) has urged residents to take precautionary measures.
The EHS specifically advised individuals with respiratory illnesses to avoid open areas during the dust storm. Residents are also instructed to keep doors and windows closed to prevent dust from entering homes.
Health & Safety Guidelines:
- Avoid travel during strong winds and periods of low visibility.
- If going outside is necessary, wear a protective mask or cover the nose and mouth with a damp cloth.
- Keep car windows closed while driving.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has also issued an alert, stating that there is a possibility of rain in some areas today. The dust storms are expected to be most intense in the northern and eastern regions of the country.
The NCM forecast indicates that western coastal and island areas will experience partly to fully cloudy skies. The week is expected to begin with cooler weather as a noticeable drop in temperature is anticipated.
Winds are forecast to be light to moderate (10-20 km/h), potentially gusting up to 30 km/h, shifting from southeasterly to northwesterly. Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are expected to be calm.
